| « 1998....my dream home almost got away |
My journey to becoming an immigrant started a long time ago, I wasn’t even middle aged back then. My world was very different. The year was nineteen ninety seven, a memorable year in England; New Labour and a very young looking Tony Blair had just stormed to victory by promising us all that ‘things could only get better’. It was the year that Princess Diana died in such an untimely and horrific manner. This event also gave us an insight into Tony Blair, as he gave his speech on the People’s Princess. While some of us thought how wonderful and understanding he was it just seemed a bit smarmy and insincere to me, but what did I know? It was also a memorable year because I had just met my husband to be. It would have been lovely to have known what was going to happen in the next few years. If I ever meet a genie with a lamp then I will ask to see the future, and then maybe I could change it.
